Army decorates 13 newly promoted Master Warrant Officers

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has recently gave his approval for the promotion of soldiers from warrant Officers (WO's) to the rank of Master Warrant Officer (MWO). In a statement released by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 2 Division Colonel Hasdan Mohammed said,  the essence of the promotion is to appreciate the soldiers for their immense service to the Nigerian Army and their mother land. According to him, they got their promotion as a sign of recognition of their valor commitment. While Major General Omozoje encouraged the newly promoted Master Warrant Officers(MWO) to remain committed to their duty so they can continue to be of relevance in the Nigerian Army. Ten Nigerian soldiers, nine Boko Haram fighters killed in bloody battle

Ten Nigerian soldiers were killed and 12 others feared missing following an attack on a military team in Borno State Wednesday, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt. The attack in Damboa Local Government Area came at about 7:35 a.m. on November 6 during an overnight military patrol, sources said. It was the first major attack on troops this month. Military sources said nine Boko Haram fighters were killed during the attack and three AK-47 rifles recovered by soldiers during a sweep of the area following the attack. Nine officers who were wounded during the attack had been evacuated to the military hospital in Maiduguri. Search and rescue efforts have commenced for the 12 officers still feared missing in action, sources said. The insurgents carted away two gun trucks with arms and ammunition, three general purpose machine guns and a Toyota Hilux truck.
