NURTW: Sego leads a peaceful rally in Lagos Island

By: Fashina Shakiru The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Branch has held a rally in Lagos Island as result of series of unrest crisis in some part of Lagos Island. The NURTW Lagos State Council Treasurer Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle (Sego) who led the peaceful rally kick off from Campos to Idumota, Ebute Ero, Apogbon, Lafiaji, Okepopo and ended at Onala. Flycomnews correspondence gathered that, NURTW members in Lagos Island are not violent people and the leadership at the state council will not condone any form of violence. The essence of the rally was to appeal to residents of Lagos Island to stay away from violence". “We have our internal ways of resolving crisis. There are rules and regulations we fellow as union members. Anyone found committing crimes, violence, killings will be expelled from the union and handed over to the police for prosecution,” Adekunle  said. …As Women Conference Ends The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) on Thursday urged the Federal Government and governments across the states to prioritise issue of maternal mortality, which it described as “national emergency”. The Committee said the high maternal mortality would not augur well for the nation, urging all stakeholders, especially the Government to initiate actions that would address the problem, with the aim to stem the growth. The Committee, in a communique issued at the end of its 19th National Women Conference held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, called on government at all levels to empower women, saying there was strong need for women to maximise their capacity. MEET ABDEL-JELEEL TAIWO ADEKUNLE  OLASUPO. By: Fashina Mobolaji Shakiru Olasupo was born, some 50 years ago, at Dosunmu Ajiwe Court, on Oshodi Street in Epetedo Area of Lagos Island. Olasupo spent most of his childhood live at he Lagos Island area of Lagos State. Also, for his elementary school education, he attended Jamatul Islamiyat Primary on Patey Street, still on the Island. He later proceeded to Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School III, now known as Iponri Grammar School in Abule Nla, Costain Area. After completing his University education at  the College of Staten Island, City University of New York, Olasupo joined the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance as a Miscellaneous Tax Auditor at the Capital Region Office (CRO), that's in Albany; New York, United State of America.
