LAWMA PARTNERS STAKEHOLDERS TO CLEAN-UP APAPA The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has conducted a joint clean-up exercise with APM Terminals Limited and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), to rid Apapa of refuse. Speaking during the exercise organised by the APM Terminals, the Executive Director of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, who represented the managing director, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, observed the need for attitudinal change among residents regarding the way they treat the environment. He urged Lagosians to embrace the culture of waste bagging, which would play a pivotal role in eliminating the challenge of indiscriminate waste dumping experienced in some parts of the metropolis. NGIJ Concludes Bayelsa Governance Assessment Tour The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) on Friday concluded Governance Assessment Investigations on administration of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson in Bayelsa State. NGIJ in a statement issued in Yenagoa on Friday by its President, Wale Abydeen said the guild embarked on the tour to carry out the watchdog role and assess impact of Seriake Dickson's administration on people on the state. 'Sort your waste for recycling'  – LAWMA MD The Managing Director of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, has again urged residents to imbibe the culture of waste sorting at source by dropping all recyclable items in one bag and other waste items in another. Speaking at Orile Bus Stop during a roadshow organised by LAWMA to create awareness and distribute waste bags following the recently launched Blue Box Program of the State government, Gbadegesin said the Authority embarked on the massive sensitisation program to draw the attention of residents in the area to the need for proper sanitation and cleaner surroundings.  “Today we’ve come to sensitise the community on how to maintain a clean environment because a clean environment is the beginning of good health for all Lagosians. MEET ABDEL-JELEEL TAIWO ADEKUNLE  OLASUPO. By: Fashina Mobolaji Shakiru Olasupo was born, some 50 years ago, at Dosunmu Ajiwe Court, on Oshodi Street in Epetedo Area of Lagos Island. Olasupo spent most of his childhood live at he Lagos Island area of Lagos State. Also, for his elementary school education, he attended Jamatul Islamiyat Primary on Patey Street, still on the Island. He later proceeded to Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School III, now known as Iponri Grammar School in Abule Nla, Costain Area. After completing his University education at  the College of Staten Island, City University of New York, Olasupo joined the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance as a Miscellaneous Tax Auditor at the Capital Region Office (CRO), that's in Albany; New York, United State of America.
