FCMB customers groan under poor service delivery

Numerous customers of the First City Monument Bank, (FCMB) who thronged the Joju Junction, Sango-Ota branch of the bank in Ogun State lamented poor service delivery by staffers of the financial institution, yesterday. The customers who visited the bank to make transactions for the festive period, were disappointed with what they termed the inept attitude of the staff who abandoned customers on a long queue without attending to them. Some of the customers who spoke with National Monitor regretted banking with the financial institution for their poor service delivery and customer care service. One of them, Mr. Semiu Babatunde, described the experience as horrible and unpalatable. Semiu noted that while the banking hall was crowded with hundreds of customers, just two cashiers were at the counter to attend to them, making an ordinary banking transaction that ought to have ended in minutes, to drag into hours of waiting. “We are ready for the Festive Season” … LAWMA

With the Christmas and New Year festivities around the corner, Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has affirmed its readiness to meet the waste management needs of residents during the season and to consolidate on its year round vision of establishing a cleaner and healthier Lagos. In a statement released by the Authority, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin disclosed that bearing in mind the anticipated 100 per cent increase in waste generation during the period, the Authority would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the season was celebrated in a clean environment. He revealed that the agency had intensified the distribution of black thrash bags for household waste and purple bags for recyclables to residents in the state, adding that PSP operators had been mandated to work round the clock in their assigned areas of operation, while the authority would provide backup trucks. Wema Bank funds N2bn for farmers.

Wema bank plc has committed N2bn in funds for farmers and other agribusiness stakeholders. To help to develop the agribusiness value chain, the bank has signed a tripartite commodity aggregation finance scheme with Cellulant Nigeria and Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL Plc). The N2 billion in funds is available for immediate drawdown to commodity aggregators on the Cellulant network to facilitate trade across the value chain. Veritas Kapital: Unity Bank start insurance services.

Unity Bank Plc has partnered with Veritas Assurance Plc to deploy bancassuarance products to deepen adoption of insurance services and financial inclusion in Nigeria. The concept was introduced in Nigeria following mutual provision by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to enable banks dabble into non-core financial services in collaboration with insurance firms.  According to the partners at the launch of the service in Lagos yesterday, Veritas Kapital will leverage on the customer base of the bank and its distribution channels to sell its insurance products.
