At its emergency plenary  today the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps Agency (Amendment) Bill 2020 was read for the first and second times. Radio Nigeria reports, "the Bill seeks to create a Unit to be known as Amotekun in the existing neighbourhood safety corps. It also seeks to ensure that the new agency will collaborate with sister agencies in the South West". The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday last week, hosted a meeting of South West Governors and the IG of Police about issues around community policing. The meeting adopted operational modalities for Operation Amotekun to be a state-led effort as opposed to a regional security operation.

Nigeria's President Mohammadu Buhari has approved and regrouped Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from three to five as Prof Daniel Pondei is the New Acting Managing Director, to replace Barrister Joy Nunieh.
