Lagos State Assembly has received Amotekun bill crafted out by six south west Governors, bill  to back the South West Security outfit, known as Amotekun.

At its emergency plenary  today the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps Agency (Amendment) Bill 2020 was read for the first and second times.

Radio Nigeria reports, "the Bill seeks to create a Unit to be known as Amotekun in the existing neighbourhood safety corps. It also seeks to ensure that the new agency will collaborate with sister agencies in the South West".

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday last week, hosted a meeting of South West Governors and the IG of Police about issues around community policing.

The meeting adopted operational modalities for Operation Amotekun to be a state-led effort as opposed to a regional security operation.
