Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly Rt Honourable Mudashiru Adisa has disclosed that Amotekun for Yoruba race as security Outfits has come to stay in Lagos state.
Obasa, who made this known on Monday in a one day stakeholders forum on "a bill for a law to amend the Lagos state neighborhood safety corps agency law 2019 to establish Lagos Amotekun corps at Assembly Pavilion, Alausa Lagos.
The challenges of national security across Nigerian States led to formation of Amotekun corps by south west Governors. Amotekun corps for Yoruba race to defend the territorial border of the Yoruba region.
According to Obasa, Amotekun security outfits has come to stay for establish and protect, lives and properties of the people in the state.
He added, there is enact law under Lagos state neighborhood safety corps as amended in 2016 to accommodate, incorporate, maintain laws and orders.
Speaking earlier, the convener Honourable Tunde Brahimoh representing Kosofe Constituency || said the essence of government is to provide security, protect lives, properties and welfare of the people.
He disclosed, "there was a time when there is no government, might was right. Then anarchy rule the world, where life was short, brutish and nasty. These made people to resolved to submit their individual rights underwise known as sovereignty in the hands of a few called government".
He added, "the government responsibility is preservation of life and property of the citizen to makes its citizen enjoys all the basic social amenities provided by the government. It is on this note, Lagos state neighborhood watch enacted in 2016 to ensure the state resources for the maximum use of Lagosians and for pursuit of excellent.
While Aare Ona Kankanfo Iba Gani Adams commends Lagos state Parliament for well organized stakeholder and public hearing on a bill of Amotekun and wish Lagosians and all south west best of luck.
He noted that, there is no way to have Amotekun security outfits without considering Oduwa Peoples Congress (OPC). I know the role, I played before it get to this stage and not desperate but necessary needful will be done.
"Neighborhood Corps can take 50% while the remaining 50% share among other paramilitary groups because as a founding organization with well performing neighborhood watch for intelligent gathering to fish out the hardly criminals territorize the race of yorubaland most be destroy", says Adams.
Majority Leader Honourable Sania Agubiade Representing Ikorodu Constituency |, says this is a big success and well encouraged as the people trooped out and shows people really buy into the concept of Amotekun and to the Lagos state government energizing the security architecture of the state to secure their lives and properties.
The input from general public gathered today (Monday) will be incorporated into the bill. Of course, the bill will go for third reading before final approval and send to the Governor's assent becomes a law by the grace of God, says Agubiade.
