The Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) and National Broadcast Academy (NBA) held media entrepreneurship workshop for Batch"A" 2020 participants in Lagos.
The Director National Broadcast Academy(NBA) Engr., Ajibola Abiola who gave welcome address and remarkable speech for participants Batch "A" 2020 says start making use of great opportunities in a business media world as business ventures involves in risk without risk no success.
The Executive Director, Mr Yinka Olaito, Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) has called on the young media professionals to be focus and determine given oritented content information to the wide audience.
Olaito who stated this recently while delivering a seminar workshop theme "Media Entrepreneurship: Opportunities for start-Ups" a programme organized and held at the Department of Present at icon, National Broadcast Academy Ikeja, Lagos.
In his paper presentation, Olaito stated "entrepreneur owns some option of small business passionately to make profits. In a media industry, small part of the enterprise can be set up to develop and own yourself a business not necessarily to start from big or cover the whole media enterprise. Today, some media houses has become digital from small start-Ups bigger media world".
Olaito also urged the participants to be on their toes to become a successful media practitioners with aim of good media contents, media skills, collaboration, develop in research, studies and finding problems to solve societal needs.
He added, major challenges for media practitioners are financial viability, declining advertising revenues and shrinking subscriptions while to be succeeded in present digital age by; creating multiple revenues, organise conferences, seminars, adverts, sponsored contents, events, innovating thinking and creativity resilience to achieve in a challenging world.
Speaking with Flycomnews correspondent Fashina Shakiru, "the seminar meant for the young media professional to be well trained and prepared them to the media world. This is where the kitchen, the young ones shall grown and needs to be equipped them to see the future. The participants have the capability, determination and direction to do something and achieve by training and encouraging them.
The young media professional journalists can start practicing from zero income earn and with time, focus and consistent ways shall open then move to corporate world and register and establish the media company of your own", Olaito advised.
The Publisher Gatekeeper News Mr Sunday Osanyintuyi on his part gave the Media Entrepreneurship lecture, "Gatekeeper News Our Stories " says media market place is opened market and inexhaustible.
He urged the participants to defined their niches and business focus. According to him, this is the market place which your media innovation and enterprise focuses to serve. This is the foundation of the business. It has to be well thought out. As this defined Gatekeepers news.ng will serve as the authentic news hub to the world.
"Media enterprise targeted audience solutions to the public as identify the probems not meant for robots but real people and research the solutions then hit the ground running", he emphasized.
Speaking with our correspondent, says media industry has changed. No longer the way used to be every citizen today has become a journalist. For us the media professionals, we need to live above the board to think beyond what we were told. We need to be proactive, objective and think well to ask questions.
He added, "the participants need to sit down and think critically to make use of their various gadgets to source for genuine content information to serve the people".
While comments on the issue of fake news as government has the responsibility to regulates and control rate of spreading fake news to avoid unnecessary crisis and unrest in the country.
He noted, every citizen has a fundamental human rights to freedom of expression and association. At the same time, government has the right to protects her citizens against fake news spreading.
Osanyintuyi said, I am not support of fake news and government clambing down the press. Federal Government on their part should put law in place for very media owners responsible for the contents pushes out to the public.
