President Buhari wins 2019 Presidential The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has declared President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the Presidential Election held on Saturday the 23rd of February, 2019. Professor Yakubu made the declaration at the end of the national results collation held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Nigeria's Capital. He however, noted that President Buhari has met all requirements of constitution and is hereby returned. President Muhammadu Buhari had a total vote of 15,191,847 to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party's candidate, Atiku Abubakar who had a total of 11,262,978 votes.

Lagos, Kano and Kaduna Lead In PVCs Collection For General Election The electoral commission, INEC, on Thursday evening released the final breakdown of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) collected ahead of Saturday’s presidential election. The breakdown shows that Lagos State leads with 5.5 million (5,531389) PVCs collected, followed by Kano which has 4.7 million (4,696,747) PVCs collected. Lagos and Kano are followed by Kaduna, Katsina and Rivers states respectively. Kaduna has 3.6 million (3,648,831) PVCs collected, Katsina has 3.2 million (3,187,988) PVCs collected while Rivers has 2.83 million PVCs collected. The total number of PVCs collected in each state also reflects the maximum number of votes that can be gotten in each state as only registered voters with PVCs are eligible to vote.

This was revealed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Media, Tolu Ogunlesi. According to Ogunlesi, Nguru met with Buhari on Thursday before confirming his decision to the State House Press Corps. “JUST IN: Current Chairman of the PDP in Yobe State, Sani Inuwa Nguru, has just defected to the APC. “He just finished an interview with State House Press Corps, after meeting with President @MBuhari #AsoVillaToday,” Ogunlesi tweeted.
