AWOSIKA EMERGES AS ACCESS BANK CHAIRMAN

Access Bank Plc Today 19TH November 2019 announced the appointed of Mrs Ajoritsedere Awosika as the new Chairman of its board with effect from next year 2020 as Mrs Mosun Belo-Olusoga set to retire soon.  A statement signed by Access Bank’s Company Secretary, Mr. Sunday Ekwuchi and issued to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, thanked Mrs Belo-Olusoga for her many contributions towards the company’s growth. The statement also noted that there are no issues between Access Bank and the outgoing Chairman. FMDQ securities admits Primero BRT’s N16.5bn bond

FMDQ Securities Exchange Plc has admitted the N16.5 billion Series 1 fixed rate bond of Primero BRT Securitisation SPV Plc on its trading  platfom. According to the company, net proceeds of the Primero Bond would be utilised for funding the operating assets of the Bus Rapid Transit System, amongst others. It was gathered that the bond listing is in line with FMDQ’s mandate to provide a reliable and credible avenue for corporate and governments, amongst others, to raise capital and by so doing, foster the deepening of the markets and ultimately, the economic development of the nation. The Senate has introduced a bill which seeks to establish a Federal Government agency to check hate speech in the country . It also prescribed death by hanging as the maximum punishment for certain categories of offenders . The bill , sponsored by a former Senate spokesperson , who is now the Deputy Senate Whip, Sabi Abdullahi , passed first reading on the floor of the red chamber on Tuesday . It is titled , “ National Commission for the Prohibition of Hate Speech ( Estb . , etc ) Bill 2019 . But a few hours after the bill passed the first reading, groups and individuals including former Vice -President Atiku Abubakar , eminent lawyers and civil rights organisations , warned that it was death sentence for democracy in the country .  They described the bill as draconian. • 32 bomb factories destroyed, thousands killed No fewer than 5,475 suspected Boko Haram members have been killed while tens of thousands have been killed by troops, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai has said. Gen. Burutai spoke at the 16th annual conference and Awards of the Security Watch Africa Initiatives held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The COAS who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (CPLANS) Lt.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun said 32 bomb-making factories have been destroyed by troops. According to him, the strength of the terrorists had been significantly reduced from an estimated 35,000 to less than 5,000, adding that the war was clearly being won by the army. Nigerian Army approves promotion for its officers

  The Nigerian Army Council has approved the promotion of 74 senior officers to the ranks of Major General and Brigadier General respectively. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations Colonel Sagir Musa and made available to newsmen on Sunday. A total of thirty-one officers were promoted to the position of Major General, while another forty-three officers received promotion to the position of Brigadier General.
