WASTE TO CASH: SALAMOTU DOSUMU FOUNDATION TRAINS PETTY PLASTIC BOTTLE COLLECTORS|Fashina Mobolaji Shakiru

The Salamotu Dosumu Skills Acquisition Foundation has flagged off a campaign to train and empower over One Hundred and Fifty (150) participants in plastic petty bottles collection across Lagos state.


In a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Sunday, Flycomnews gathered that the Founder of Salamotu Dosumu Skills Acqusition Foundation (SDSAF) Mrs. Idown Rosulu Shakirat, said the foundation decided to call on teeming Lagosians who believe in and have the passion, creativity and skill to turn waste to wealth in order to enhance and support their daily incomes, to bring plastic pet bottles to the foundation. Pet bottles are expected to be in different brands and are expected to be clean and well packed. She said incentives will be made available at  the training in return in line with the Foundation's waste to cash initiative.

Mrs. Idowu said the purpose of the training programme is to achieve youth development,  substaniable environment, reduction of deforestation and training the youth on how to turn waste to wealth such as plastic bottles collection in order for participants to access cash. Apart from turning plastic bottles to cash, other areas of wealth creation such includes turning used tyres to Ottomans Stools and tables, She explained.

She however said, anyone coming to the training to participate must come with the LASSRA Identification slip for the purpose of easy accessibility of payment for the participants.

She advised teeming Lagosians to engage in decent means of livelihood such as waste management protocols by learning how to separate waste gathered from their immediate home and turning them into profitable business after the skill acquisition required.

Meanwhile,  she cautioned residents of Lagos state on illegitimate dumping of refuse which she said has resulted in the heaps of refuse seen in canals which have blocked most of the drainages in most parts of Lagos state. This she said is as a result of man made negligence on solid waste management and which has necessitated her idea of recycling waste to cash initiative, Idowu emphasized.

2019: Afenifere Faction Endorses Buhari

A faction of Afenifere, a pan Yoruba social-cultural group, on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari as its candidate for the February 16th election. The Senator Ayo Fasanmi-led faction said it took the decision because of Buhari’s sterling performances.
