A Sunday tragedy gas explosion at Abule Ado Area of Festac Amowu Odofin Local Government where more than 15 were confirmed dead and buildings burnt down in the fire incident.
The cause of fire outbreak is yet to be ascertained, as Lagos State Fire Service (LSFS), Lagos State Management Management Agency (LASEMA), Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other security agencies are in combine effort to put a stop to the fire incidentt.
While official information has not been given with number of casualties, lives and properties lost in the incident.
One of the residents and stakeholder Chairman A & A Motors Prince Ajele Abayomi who is one of the residents and stakeholder in the area told Flycomnews that the explosion is not from the pipeline vandalism.
He revealed that his wife was also involved in the incident, and she has been rescued to the nearby hospital. Most properties near the inferno got collapsed and burnt.
Ajele appeals to the state government to come to their aid as lives and properties were destroyed in this unfortunate and deadly incident.
Kennie Obateru, NNPC’s public affairs manager, said preliminary findings indicated that the impact of the explosion was so huge it led to the damage to an NNPC pipeline.
The cylinders were said to be stacked in a gas processing plant located near the corporation’s system 2B pipeline right of way.
Lagos state government urged the residence to be calm as firefighters are working to eliminate the explosion.
