A former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has again defended his decision to support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. Mr Obasanjo in a statement to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Lagos Island Club said he has been called several names for sticking his neck for his former deputy. A copy of the statement was sent to PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday afternoon. Mr Obasanjo, recently, has come under criticism for publicly supporting Mr Abubakar’s presidential bid despite repeatedly calling him a corrupt person in the past. According to him, “the essence of this ban is to ensure that the lives of citizens that resides in Lagos is secured. It is not to punish anybody or restrict people from doing certain jobs but the reality is that people are dying, the security of our children is being compromised and the government must act,” Hamzat said. Oko Faji  Muslim Community Organise Prays  For Victims Ita Faji Building Collapse Fashina Mobolaji  Shakiru Flycomnews Precisely  a week today, that the unprecedented and sad incident of the three-storey building collapsed at Itafaji , in Lagos Island  Local Government where over 40 people involved. Cosequently, the Oko Faji Muslim Community has deemed necessary to organise  prayers for the victims of the ill-fated building.  Prayers were  also offered to the  families of the deceased.
