A former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has again defended his decision to support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. Mr Obasanjo in a statement to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Lagos Island Club said he has been called several names for sticking his neck for his former deputy. A copy of the statement was sent to PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday afternoon. Mr Obasanjo, recently, has come under criticism for publicly supporting Mr Abubakar’s presidential bid despite repeatedly calling him a corrupt person in the past. Mr Obasanjo had in the past described Mr Abubakar as a ‘shameless liar’ and said God would never forgive him if he supports Mr Abubakar’s presidential bid.
